What Michael Jordan Taught Me About Failure

Michael Jordan has a thing or two to say about success. After all, the dude produces results. His resume includes world championships, Olympic gold medals and multi-million dollar businesses.

Because MJ has a lot to say about success, he also has a lot to say about failure.

“What are you talking about Anik? This guy embodies success, not failure, doesn’t he?”

Well, I’ll let him explain…

“I’ve missed more than 9000 shots in my career. I’ve lost almost 300 games. 26 times, I’ve been trusted to take the game winning shot and missed. I’ve failed over and over again in my life. And that is why I succeed.”

In other words, Michael Jordan had all the success he had because he failed so many times. He embodies the Law of Failure which says that your level of success is directly proportional to how often you fail.

This is one of the most important lessons I’ve learned in my life. If you want to be successful, then you need to embrace failure.

Most people avoid failure. In fact, they will avoid doing things that they know they should do if there is even the smallest possibility of failing. This is why most people don’t live the life of their dreams.

You need to take the opposite approach.

Instead of running away from failure, run towards it. Accept that it is a part of the process and trust that every time you fail, you are one step closer to greater success.

All you need is a little persistence. MJ has something to say about that too…

“I can accept failure, everyone fails at something. But I can’t accept not trying.”

Stop walking around afraid of failing, and live the life of your dreams.
